Advanced Industry Investment Rush in Jeonnam... Kim Youngrok Says "Thanks to Bold Decisions by President and Corporations" Kim Youngrok, Governor of Jeonnam Province

Kim Youngrok, Governor of Jeonnam Province, recently expressed his gratitude to the government and corporations in relation to the recent "energy industry investment rush in Jeonnam" by major domestic conglomerates.

On November 17, through his Facebook page, Governor Kim stated, "Major companies such as Samsung, SK, and Hyundai are making consecutive investments in Jeonnam. Yesterday (the 16th), a follow-up joint public-private meeting on the Korea-US tariff negotiations was held, presided over by President Lee Jaemyung at the presidential office. At this meeting, Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Euisun announced plans to build a water electrolysis plant on the southwest coast to produce green hydrogen and to promote the creation of a Hydrogen AI City."

He continued, "HD Hyundai President Chung Kisun also expressed his commitment to revitalizing the regional economy by transforming the Daebul Industrial Complex in Jeonnam into a smart shipyard and linking it with the Solaseado AI Data Center. This achievement follows last month's selection of Jeonnam as a candidate site for Samsung SDS's National AI Computing Center, the joint global AI data center between OpenAI and SK, and the construction of Korea's first offshore wind power-dedicated port by LS Cable & System."

He added, "I would like to thank President Lee Jaemyung, who has led these large-scale investments in Jeonnam, and the chairmen of the conglomerates who made bold decisions. Jeonnam will not disappoint the companies that invest here. Considering the global trend of the AI transformation era and the explosive demand for semiconductor chips, it is also possible to establish a semiconductor cluster in Jeonnam, which has abundant land, water, and electricity."

In conclusion, he said, "Going forward, I expect not only the creation of quality jobs for young people but also the realization of Jeonnam as the AI capital in the era of energy transformation to accelerate even further."
