Gochang County in North Jeolla Province successfully concluded the 23rd Gochang Dolmen Marathon at Gochang Public Stadium on the 16th.

The marathon featured three categories: a 21.0975km half course, a 10km short course, and a 5km health course. The certified course by the Korea Association of Athletics Federations ran from the public stadium through the Wolgok Underpass, Jugok Roundabout, and the Dolmen Heritage Site.

To prevent crowd-related accidents, which are more likely at large-scale autumn events, the county limited registration to the first 4,000 applicants starting this year.

Additionally, health centers, fire stations, medical staff, ambulances, and paramedics were stationed at key points such as the headquarters and turning points to ensure a swift response in case of emergencies. The event was completed without incident, thanks to road controls supported by the police and the autonomous crime prevention association.

The county provided an abundance of food, including rice cake soup, tofu, kimchi, Makgeolli, pork, chicken, popcorn, and coffee, to warm up the runners in the chilly weather. As souvenirs, participants received Gochang's local specialties, Hwangto Bae-gi rice and Bokbunja wine.

County Governor Sim Deokseop said, "I welcome marathon enthusiasts who have come to Gochang, home to seven UNESCO-recognized treasures of the world," and added, "I hope you enjoy a healing time in Gochang, a World Heritage city, during this late autumn."
