Samil PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and the Samil Future Foundation announced on the 17th that they carried out a variety of community service activities from the 5th to the 14th of this month with 180 newly hired accountants who joined the company in September this year.
This volunteer initiative was part of the second half of the year activities for the "Hands Up Project," Samil PwC's employee volunteer campaign. The new accountants chose one of six programs to participate in: children's economic education, baking bread for charity, caring for abandoned dogs, upcycling toys, sharing kimchi, and making furniture for vulnerable groups.

Song Jungwoong, an accountant who participated in the children's economic education program, said, "At first, communicating with the children felt difficult, but through the class, I was actually energized by their positive energy. It was a valuable experience that I would not have had if it weren't for this new employee volunteer activity." Kim Hyunseo, another accountant, shared, "I've always been interested in educational volunteering, and it was meaningful to be able to teach children about economics in a fun and easy way."
This year, the "Upcycling Toys Volunteer Activity" was newly introduced and drew attention. Unused toys donated by Samil PwC employees were sorted: toys in working condition were delivered to children's facilities, while broken or mismatched toys were dismantled and reprocessed into new materials to be turned into towels.
Kim Chanyoung, an accountant who participated in this program, said, "I'm happy to take part in ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) initiatives. I was impressed by the process of discarded toys being given new life as everyday items. I hope that volunteer activities focused on environmental protection and sustainability will continue to expand in the future."
The "Hands Up Project" has established itself as a flagship social contribution program for Samil PwC and the Samil Future Foundation, with a total of 1,071 employees participating this year-891 in the first half and 180 in the second half. A Samil PwC representative stated, "In order to foster coexistence with the local community and fulfill our social responsibilities, we will continue to contribute to the realization of ESG values-such as community development, environmental protection, and youth education-through ongoing employee volunteer activities."
