[PollPoll News] President Lee's Approval Rating Falls for First Time in 3 Weeks... Rebounds After "Fact Sheet" Release

Realmeter Poll Shows Approval Rating Drops by 2.2 Points to 54.5%
Public Fatigue Rises Amid Daejang-dong Appeal Withdrawal Controversy

President Lee Jaemyung's approval rating for his administration declined for the first time in three weeks. However, toward the end of the week, his approval rating showed a slight rebound after President Lee released the 'Korea-US Fact Sheet.'

According to a public opinion poll released by Realmeter on the 17th (commissioned by Energy Economy News and conducted from the 10th to the 14th with 2,510 men and women aged 18 or older nationwide, using a 100% wireless phone interview method, with a margin of error of ±2.0 percentage points at a 95% confidence level and a response rate of 4.6%), President Lee's approval rating stood at 54.5%, down 2.2 percentage points from the previous week's survey. The disapproval rating rose by 2.5 percentage points to 41.2%.

President Lee's approval rating was 51.2% in the fourth week of October, but showed a recovery trend with 53.0% in the fifth week of October and 56.7% in the first week of November. Realmeter analyzed that "the intense confrontation and political strife between the ruling and opposition parties over the 'Daejang-dong appeal withdrawal' controversy increased public fatigue, which served as a major reason for the decline in the administration's performance evaluation."

However, there was a change in the approval rating trend after President Lee released fact sheets on issues such as the Korea-US tariff negotiations later in the week. According to daily approval rating surveys, President Lee's approval rating fell from 56.0% on the 11th to 52.1% on the 13th, but rebounded to 54.8% on the 14th.
