Commemorating the 30th Farmers' Day Over Two Days
More Than 4,100 Visitors and Sales of Approximately 48 Million Won
Goseong County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on November 13 that the 9th Agricultural and Livestock Products Festival, held from November 11 to 12 at the Sports Town Field No. 4, concluded successfully with more than 4,100 participants. The event was organized to celebrate the 30th Farmers' Day by promoting, exhibiting, and selling local agricultural and livestock products, thereby boosting consumption and spreading the value of agriculture and rural communities.
This event, hosted by the Goseong County Agricultural Association Council, was established as the county’s representative festival in November to enhance farmers’ pride, recognize their hard work over the year, and promote the county’s excellent agricultural and livestock products. It achieved a total sales record of 48 million won, making a significant contribution to increasing the consumption of local agricultural and livestock products.
In September, the county formed an event steering committee in accordance with the "Ordinance on Supporting Goseong County Farmers' Day Events," finalized the overall direction including the timing, location, and main content of the event, and selected the Goseong County Agricultural Association Council as the delegated organization to provide ongoing support for the successful hosting of the festival.
During the commemorative ceremony held on November 11, awards and plaques of appreciation were presented to farmers who have led the local agricultural sector and contributed to the development of agriculture and rural areas in Goseong County, despite challenging conditions.
Additionally, in celebration of Farmers' Day and symbolizing the lucky number seven, seven batches of rice crackers made from Goseong’s new crop rice were prepared to encourage farmers, and a performance was held where guests participated in assembling a letter board together.
At this event, a special promotion was held where the first 1,100 attendees received 5,000-won coupons, which could be used exclusively at the festival venue. This initiative was met with great enthusiasm, and the distributed coupons naturally encouraged purchases of agricultural and livestock products, further boosting local sales.
In his commemorative speech, Oh Taeho, President of the Goseong County Agricultural Association Council, said, "I ask for your continued encouragement for our farmers who steadfastly remain on the frontlines of agriculture despite difficult conditions such as abnormal weather and unstable crop prices. I also hope you will purchase the agricultural and livestock products that our farmers have prepared with care, enjoy our local products, and stay healthy."
County Governor Lee Sanggeun expressed his gratitude, saying, "I would like to thank the Agricultural Association Council, all those involved, and everyone who visited the festival today. Now in its ninth year, the Agricultural and Livestock Products Festival is a meaningful occasion to commemorate Farmers' Day, boost the pride and self-esteem of our farmers, and celebrate and encourage each other's hard work over the past year. I am always grateful to the farmers who continue to fulfill their roles in the field despite challenging circumstances," offering words of encouragement.
