The Global China Research Institute at Pukyong National University (President Bae Sanghoon) recently signed an academic exchange agreement with the Institute of International Korean Language and Culture at Korea University (Director Kwon Bodurae) and the Center for Korean Studies at Ocean University of China (Director Li Haiying).

This agreement was concluded during the "4th Workshop for Young Teachers of Korean Studies in the East Asian Context and the Conference of Core and Seed-Type Overseas Korean Studies University Directors," held on November 7-8 at the Laoshan Campus of Ocean University of China in Qingdao. The purpose of the agreement is to strengthen the Korea-China academic cooperation network and to lay the foundation for the internationalization of youth humanities.
The signing ceremony was attended by key representatives from major Korean studies research institutions in Korea and China, including Lee Jinyoung, Director of the Institute for International Relations at Inha University; Kim Donggil, Director of the Center for Korean Peninsula Studies at Peking University; Lee Chunyeong, Director of Shandong University of Science and Technology; and Cho Chamhoon, Director of Xinan University.
Through this MOU, the Global China Research Institute at Pukyong National University plans to carry out various collaborative projects with Korea University and Ocean University of China, including joint research, researcher and student exchanges, and the co-hosting of academic events. Based on these initiatives, the institute aims to broaden the foundation for Korean studies and humanities research in the East Asian region and to promote the "youth humanities" agenda on an international scale.
The Institute of International Korean Language and Culture at Korea University is leading the Humanities Korea (HK) 3.0 consortium project of the National Research Foundation of Korea, titled "The Future Turn of K-Humanities in the Era of Civilizational Transition," in collaboration with the Institute for Comparative Society and Culture at Yonsei University, the Institute of Korean Studies at Inha University, and the Hallym Academy of Sciences at Hallym University. Meanwhile, the Center for Korean Studies at Ocean University of China is participating in the Korean Ministry of Education's Overseas Korean Studies Core University Program, working to establish itself as a global hub for Korean studies.
With this agreement, the Global China Research Institute at Pukyong National University plans to expand convergence research across agendas based on its collaborative network with domestic and international research institutions, further strengthening its role as a central platform for youth humanities research in East Asia.
