The Gyeonggi Provincial Fire and Disaster Headquarters, in cooperation with the private sector, is conducting inspections of large construction sites in the province for fire and industrial accident hazards.
This inspection is a follow-up measure to intensively manage sites with a high rate of construction progress and a large amount of flammable materials, following an incident in September in which a fire involving urethane foam at a logistics warehouse in Yangju City resulted in injuries.
The inspection targets include 25 locations: large logistics warehouses with over 70% construction progress, special fire safety facilities classified as first and special grade, and large construction sites including the Icheon logistics warehouse.
In particular, the provincial Fire and Disaster Headquarters is conducting this inspection jointly with the Gyeonggi Regional Headquarters of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency and the Association of Industrial Safety and Health Consultants, implementing a "role-separated joint inspection."

The main inspection items include the management of ignition sources, storage of flammable materials, installation and maintenance of temporary fire facilities, and deployment of monitoring personnel during welding and cutting operations.
The provincial Fire and Disaster Headquarters plans to rectify hazardous sites by the end of this month, and thereafter, minimize management blind spots by conducting regular inspections led by fire stations alongside consultations with private experts.
Choi Yongcheol, the dedicated duty officer at the provincial Fire and Disaster Headquarters, stated, "A single spark at a construction site can lead to a major accident," emphasizing, "Only sites where basic rules are observed-those small practices-can prevent large-scale accidents."
