The Yeouido Sibeom Apartments have finalized plans for reconstruction, with the new development set to reach up to 65 stories and accommodate 2,493 households. The project will include a multi-level pedestrian bridge connecting to the Han River and public pedestrian pathways within the complex, significantly improving access to the river.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 14th that the Yeouido Sibeom Apartments reconstruction project passed the review at the 11th Integrated Deliberation Committee for Urban Renewal Projects held the previous day.

The Sibeom Apartments are located at 50 Yeouido-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, and were originally completed in 1971 as a complex with 1,584 households.

The new Sibeom Apartments will be developed as a complex with enhanced accessibility to the Han River. A cross-shaped public pedestrian pathway will be established within the complex, creating a pedestrian network that connects the riverside and neighboring complexes. Public accessibility has been improved so that anyone can pass through the complex to reach the Han River.

A multi-level pedestrian bridge directly connecting to the Han River will be installed, completing an open access system to the river alongside the public pathways. The structure will be converted to an open design, allowing citizens to easily travel to and from the Han River.

Along the Han River (Yeouidong-ro), a cultural park and cultural facilities will be created, providing citizens with spaces to relax and enjoy views of the river.

To address the needs of an aging society, a daycare center for seniors will also be established. This facility will be available not only to residents but also to nearby community members, contributing to the welfare of the local area.

Additionally, community facilities such as a senior center, daycare center for children, and a shared care center will be arranged within the complex and linked to the public pedestrian pathways. Last year, there was conflict between residents and the Seoul Metropolitan Government over the proposal to donate the daycare center, but the issue was resolved after residents agreed to accept the plan.

The reconstruction of the Yeouido Sibeom Apartments is scheduled to begin in 2029, following project implementation and management disposition approvals. The project is being pursued through a trust-based method, with Korea Asset Trust designated as the project operator.

Choi Jinseok, Director of Housing at the Seoul Metropolitan Government, stated, "The Sibeom Apartments, one of Yeouido's landmark complexes, will be transformed into a new residential area harmonized with the Han River. We will accelerate the reconstruction process to boost housing supply and continue to expand an open residential environment accessible to all citizens."
