According to the county on November 13, this program was designed to foster a sense of patriotism by encouraging students to directly explore local memorial facilities and participate in national defense activities, thereby instilling pride and curiosity about history and reflecting on the spirit of sacrifice of their forebears.

The event began with a visit and moment of silence at the Memorial Tower plaza in Namsan Park, where the students reaffirmed their commitment as youth protectors of national defense.

Guided by a cultural tourism commentator, the students walked an exploration course connecting the Memorial Tower and the memorial tower for independence activist Yang Hanmook, learning about the historical significance of these memorial sites.

The students shared, "We newly discovered that so much history is embedded in places so close to our neighborhood."

At Namsan Hall in the County Residents' Center, three members of the Hwasun County branch of the Korean War Veterans Association participated in person, sharing vivid stories and lessons from the war, and engaging in meaningful communication with the students.

Heo Seonsim, Head of the Social Welfare Division, stated, "I hope this was a meaningful opportunity for the youth to experience local memorial facilities firsthand, communicate with war veterans, and foster a spirit of patriotism and intergenerational understanding."
