Seo-gu Honors in Gwangju Reaches 103 Members Within One Year of Launch

"Established as a Leading Public-Private Welfare Brand"

Seo-gu District in Gwangju announced on the 13th that "Seo-gu Honors," a group of major donors, has reached 103 members and accumulated over 3.5 billion KRW in donations within just one year of its launch.

As of the 12th, Seo-gu reported that 103 "generous-hearted" individuals from diverse professions-including businesspeople, medical professionals, and self-employed individuals-have joined Seo-gu Honors. To date, four donors who have contributed over 100 million KRW, nine who have donated 50 million KRW, and ninety who have given 30 million KRW have had their names inscribed on the "Digital Hall of Fame" on the first floor of the Seo-gu District Office.

Seo-gu Honors operates as a public-private partnership welfare network, leading efforts to fill welfare gaps that cannot be addressed by the public sector through monthly themed sharing projects. It has established itself as a flagship public-private welfare brand of "Good City Seo-gu."

Past initiatives have included the "Send to Mother's Homeland" project for multicultural families, scholarships for young family caregivers, support for residents affected by wildfires in North Gyeongsang Province, wedding support for couples with disabilities, and rest support funds for elderly waste collectors.

Last month, Seo-gu Honors organized a "Dokdo Expedition" with local youth, offering a history trip beyond the textbook. This month, 24 out-of-school youth are set to embark on a "Dream Discovery School Trip" with support from Seo-gu Honors. In this way, the group's giving has become a lifestyle-oriented culture that fills all twelve months of the welfare calendar, rather than a one-off act of charity.

On the previous day, Seo-gu held the Seo-gu Honors 1st Anniversary Celebration at Wedding Group Withus Gwangju, where about 200 members, their families, businesspeople, and organization representatives gathered to celebrate their journey of sharing.

At the event, Seo-gu Honors declared the "Member Get Member (MGM Day)" campaign, in which each member invites a new donor to share the values and activities of Seo-gu Honors-a virtuous campaign to expand their impact.

The campaign reflects the group's intention to grow from 100 to 200, and from 200 to 300 members, thereby meticulously filling welfare gaps in the local community through their positive influence.

Seo-gu also plans to restructure its four main divisions-seniors, people with disabilities, children and youth, and families in crisis-so that Seo-gu Honors members can participate in planning and implementing projects according to their areas of interest.

Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu District, stated, "The first step we took a year ago has now become the big stride of 100 people, opening a warm and happy path for everyone. Sharing is not just the good deed of one person, but a connection of hearts. The administration will actively support the realization of 'Good City Seo-gu,' where sharing becomes a part of everyday life."
