Kookmin University (President Jung Seungryul) announced that it held the '2025 K-ON Tact Demo Day' on November 5 at the Pocket Day event hall on Bongeunsa-ro, Gangnam, Seoul.
This event, hosted and organized by the Kookmin University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation and Kookmin University Technology Holdings, was designed to discover promising university startups and support their growth in collaboration with venture capital (VC) and accelerators (AC). First launched in 2021, this year marks its fifth anniversary, demonstrating the university’s commitment to establishing itself as an “early-stage technology company supply platform” that directly connects research and development (R&D) to startups and then to investment.
To this end, Kookmin University structured the demo day pipeline not as a showcase but with a focus on early-stage technology companies with investment potential, building its portfolio around companies recommended for or selected by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ TIPS program.
This year’s demo day featured six participating companies: BeForPlay, PureChem, Jusin Eco Solution, Sunjin Pharmaceutical, Infinity Labs, and PCNC. After each company’s presentation, venture capitalists with sector-specific expertise and investment experience provided feedback, and various discussions took place regarding follow-up investments and other forms of collaboration.
Lee Youngoh, Investment Manager at Kookmin University Technology Holdings and head of the program, stated, “This demo day aims not only to introduce technology-based university startups but also to present verified startups that are truly ready for investment to the market. Going forward, the university will further expand its structure for directly discovering and validating early-stage startups and delivering them to the market.”
Meanwhile, starting this year, Kookmin University has significantly expanded startup incubation spaces by collaborating with the Seoul Campus Town project, extending beyond the university itself to focus on the Seongbuk-gu Startup Incubation Center and the Jongno-gu Zero One Design Center. The university will discover and nurture over 50 startup teams annually, focusing on AI, content, bio, mobility, and smart manufacturing. In particular, by establishing the 'KMU-MBV Campus Town Venture Investment Fund,' the university also plans to provide substantial investment support to early-stage local startup teams.
