Busan Open Community University and KNN Join Hands for Cooperation on Busan-type RISE Vocational and Lifelong Education

BOCU Consortium of Eight Specialized Colleges

and Build a Sustainable Community Ecosystem

Busan Open Community University (BOCU) signed a memorandum of understanding with KNN (CEO Lee Osang) on November 10 for cooperation on the operation and sustainable growth of the Busan-type RISE vocational and lifelong education program.

This agreement was pursued with the aim of establishing a sustainable cooperative system that enhances the quality of regional vocational education and lifelong learning based on the Busan-type Regional Innovation System (RISE), enabling universities and the local community to grow together.

BOCU is a consortium led by Dong-Eui Science University and includes eight specialized colleges in the Busan area: Kyungnam College of Information & Technology, Daedong College, Busan Kyungsang College, Busan Institute of Science and Technology, Busan Health College, Busan Women's College, and Busan Arts College.

Through this agreement, the two institutions plan to strengthen cooperation in various fields, including: securing and retaining local talent by attracting international students and adult learners; expanding BOCU's achievements in industry-academia collaboration and examples of nurturing technical talent through KNN's broadcasting and digital platforms; jointly hosting forums and campaigns related to vocational and lifelong education; and jointly planning and promoting Busan-type RISE projects.

Kim Youngdo, President of Dong-Eui Science University, stated, "This agreement is significant in that the local broadcaster and the consortium of specialized colleges have together presented a new model for Busan-type vocational education and lifelong learning. We will widely disseminate the outcomes of the RISE project and build an educational ecosystem that coexists with the local community."

Lee Osang, CEO of KNN, said, "We recognize that universities are at the center of regional development. KNN will actively support the promotion of the RISE project's achievements in partnership with local specialized colleges and contribute to the advancement of vocational and lifelong education in the region."
