Sacheon City Launches Relay Campaign for Inclusion in the 5th National Railway Network Construction Plan

Seventeen Institutions and Companies, Including Sacheon Aerospace Line Stakeholders, Join the Campaign

Sacheon City in South Gyeongsang Province, along with major local institutions and companies, jointly launched a relay campaign urging the inclusion of the 'Sacheon Aerospace Line' in the 5th National Railway Network Construction Plan.

This campaign reflects the region's strong determination to ensure that the 'Sacheon Aerospace Line' is included in the 5th National Railway Network Construction Plan, which is scheduled to be announced by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in March next year.

The relay campaign was held across Sacheon City for eight days, from Monday, November 3 to Monday, November 10. A total of 17 institutions and companies participated in succession, including Sacheon City, the office of National Assemblyman Seo Cheonho, South Gyeongsang Province, Sacheon City Council, Korea Aerospace Administration, Sacheon Police Station, Sacheon Fire Station, Sacheon Coast Guard, Hallyeohaesang National Park Office, NongHyup Sacheon Branch, Sacheon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Korea Aerospace Industries, Korea Aviation Engineering & Maintenance Service, Korea PCM, PLS, SNK Aviation, and Songwol Technology.

Participants held placards reading 'Urgent Call for Inclusion of the Sacheon Aerospace Line as a New Project in the 5th National Railway Network Construction Plan!' and conducted the campaign in relay format, actively promoting the necessity of establishing a railway network for the advancement of the Sacheon aerospace industry and balanced national development.

In particular, once the Sacheon Aerospace Line opens, it is expected that travel from Sacheon to Seoul will take about two hours and thirty minutes, forming a national transportation axis connecting the capital region and the southern coastal area. This will dramatically improve accessibility to Sacheon, a key hub city for the aerospace industry, and is anticipated to generate synergistic effects across logistics, tourism, and the broader economy.

This campaign was launched as Sacheon is emerging as the nation’s aerospace center with the establishment of the Korea Aerospace Administration, serving as an opportunity to build consensus on the positive ripple effects that the early construction of the Sacheon Aerospace Line will have on fostering the aerospace industry and revitalizing the local economy.

An official from Sacheon City stated, "The Sacheon Aerospace Line is not merely a transportation infrastructure project, but a core foundational facility supporting the national strategic industry of aerospace. All local institutions and citizens will unite their efforts to ensure that it is included in the government’s plan."
