Hong Joonpyo Blames "Political Prosecutors Like Yoon and Han" for Dropping Daejang-dong Appeal... Han Donghoon Fires Back: "Deserters Should Keep Quiet"

Han Donghoon Responds Immediately to Hong Joonpyo's Criticism
Heated Exchanges Trace Back to the 'Han Donghoon Leadership' Era

Hong Joonpyo, former mayor of Daegu, and Han Donghoon, former leader of the People Power Party-both prominent rivals within the conservative bloc and former prosecutors-engaged in a heated online exchange over the 'Daejang-dong' case. On November 11, Hong posted on social media, "These days, prosecutors are nothing more than salaried employees; you can't find any spirit or backbone among them."

He continued, "The mission of the prosecution is to root out great evil, so what does it mean when the prosecution, after becoming a hostage to evil and wandering aimlessly, ends up being dismantled?" He was criticizing the lack of internal opposition within the prosecution regarding recent issues, such as the decision to drop the appeal in the Daejang-dong development corruption case and the potential abolition of the prosecution office. He added, "Even after prosecutors have reached this state and the prosecution organization has been dismantled, the fact that there is no resistance and everyone is only concerned with their own survival seems to be the fault of political prosecutors like Yoon Sukyeol and Han Donghoon, who have ruined the prosecution." With this, he shifted the blame toward Han.

Han Donghoon quickly responded to Hong's provocation. On his own social media, Han replied, "Deserter Hong Joonpyo, who ran away in fear of the Lee Jaemyung administration, should keep his mouth shut." Han directly criticized, "Everyone is fighting now, but you can't even utter a word against the Lee Jaemyung administration." The bitter relationship between the two, who belonged to the same party but were known as archrivals, dates back to last year during the 'Han Donghoon leadership' era. When conflict arose between the party and the government as Han, then the acting leader of the People Power Party, clashed with former President Yoon Sukyeol, Hong harshly criticized Han on social media. Later, ahead of the 21st presidential election, they faced off as rivals in the party's primary, exchanging fierce barbs at each other.
