Additional 26.1 Billion Won in Reserve Funds Allocated for National Information Resources Fire Restoration: "To Be Used for Daegu Migration"

Reserve Funds Approved at Cabinet Meeting on November 11
19.6 Billion Won Allocated for Cloud Migration Costs
6.5 Billion Won Set Aside to Compensate Restoration Expenses for Individual Ministries

An additional 26.1 billion won in reserve funds will be allocated for the restoration of the National Information Resources Service following the fire incident. The additional reserve funds will be used to restore administrative information systems by migrating them to the public-private partnership cloud at the Daegu Center.

On November 11, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that the Cabinet had approved an additional reserve fund expenditure plan related to the restoration of national information resources damaged by the fire. Previously, on October 21, 152.1 billion won had already been approved from reserve funds to cover the costs required for restoration, including the purchase of computer equipment.

The core of this additional reserve fund is the cost of converting the information systems being restored and migrated to the Daegu Center’s public-private partnership cloud to a cloud-based infrastructure, as well as 19.6 billion won in cloud usage fees.

The systems being migrated to the Daegu Center include a total of 15 systems across four ministries. These include the Integrated Management System for Building Fire Safety Information of the National Fire Agency, the Seismic Reinforcement Information Management System for Public Facilities of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the Administrative Disciplinary System for Healthcare Professionals of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and the Integrated Account Management System of the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment. The costs related to the G-Drive system, which is among the systems being migrated to the Daegu Center, were approved at the Cabinet meeting last month.

In addition, 6.5 billion won in reserve funds has been allocated to compensate for expenses incurred by individual ministries for fire restoration that cannot be covered by their own budgets.

The government stated that it will do its utmost to ensure that all information systems, including the 16 systems being migrated to the Daegu Center, are restored quickly and securely.
