Mayor Joo Gwangdeok: "Supporting and Encouraging Young People to Play Out Their Own Lives"
Namyangju City Successfully Concludes "Our Concert" for Youth Warak, Blending Music and Community

Namyangju City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwangdeok) announced on the 10th that it held the performance sharing event, "Our Concert," for "Youth Warak (樂)" at the Youth Startup Center on the 8th.

Namyangju City Completes 12 Weeks of "Youth Warak" Harmony with "Our Concert" Joo Gwangdeok, Mayor of Namyangju City, is delivering a greeting at the 'Our Concert' performance sharing event of 'Youth Warak (樂)' held at the Youth Startup Center on the 8th. Provided by Namyangju City

This performance sharing event was organized as a concert, where young people who completed the 12-week Youth Music School "Youth Warak (樂)," which operated from July 5, formed bands and performed by group.

The Youth Warak program was initiated by the city using part of the prize money awarded to the Namyangju Youth Startup Center for being selected as the best youth space in Gyeonggi Province in 2024. The program received an enthusiastic response from young people, with 133 applicants vying for 60 spots this year.

Unlike last year, this year’s program achieved notable results by having participants take basic lessons by instrument before forming bands, thereby creating a community where young people could continue to communicate with one another.

The event was attended by over 50 people, including 43 Youth Warak students, instructors, and related personnel. The students showcased the skills they had developed during the course. The event proceeded in the following order: sharing their journey so far, participants' impressions, performances by 12 band teams, and networking.

One Youth Warak student shared, "It was not just about learning an instrument-forming a band created a sense of camaraderie, which made the classes even more enjoyable. It was a valuable experience to coordinate and harmonize with others."

Mayor Joo Gwangdeok said, "I believe that one song a day can strengthen our hearts and move us forward. Just as music creates the rhythm of life, I hope each of you will compose a wonderful life with your own melody. Namyangju City and the Youth Policy Division will continue to provide unwavering support and encouragement so that young people can confidently play out their own lives."
