Busan RISE Model Gains Attention on the Global Stage for Collaboration
Dong-A University (President Lee Haeu) announced on the 10th that the RISE Project Group participated in the 'Smart City Expo World Congress 2025 (SCEWC 2025)' held in Barcelona, Spain, from November 2 to 6, showcasing Busan's smart city innovation capabilities to the world.
At this event, which is the world's largest smart city and urban innovation expo, the Busan Metropolitan Government, Busan RISE Innovation Institute, Busan Center for Creative Economy & Innovation, and the RISE project groups from Dong-A University, Korea Maritime & Ocean University, Dongseo University, and Dong-Eui University jointly operated a 'Busan Pavilion' within the Korea Pavilion organized by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
During the event, Kim Woosaeng, Deputy Director of the Dong-A University RISE Project Group, gave a presentation as Busan's representative on the topic of the 'Busan RISE Initiative.' He introduced the core vision and implementation strategies of the Busan-style RISE project, emphasizing that "Busan will grow as a global innovation city and an international student-friendly city."
Notably, following Kim's presentation, Germany's renowned research institute, Fraunhofer, expressed deep interest in the Busan-style RISE system and held extended discussions with Dong-A University. Fraunhofer highly evaluated the potential for international dissemination of the Busan RISE model and reportedly proposed co-planning the 'CITIES IN ACTION' project.
A representative from the Dong-A University RISE Project Group stated, "This collaborative discussion is significant as it marks the establishment of a foundation for the global expansion of Busan's innovation ecosystem in partnership with international research institutions."
