KBO Manager Salaries Enter 3 Billion Won Era... LG Signs Most Lucrative Renewal in History

Up to 3 Billion Won Over Three Years:
Includes Signing Bonus, Salary, and Incentives
Record-Breaking Contract Surpasses Previous 2.8 Billion Won Deal

The LG Twins have renewed their contract with manager Yeom Kyungyup, who led the team to victory in the Korean Series, under the most lucrative terms ever offered to a KBO League manager. With this, the KBO has entered the "3 billion won era" for manager salaries for the first time.

On November 9, LG announced that it had signed a three-year contract with Manager Yeom worth up to 3 billion won. The deal includes a 700 million won signing bonus, an annual salary of 2.1 billion won, and 200 million won in incentives, making it the highest total contract value ever for a KBO manager. This contract surpasses the previous record set in 2020, when Manager Kim Tae-hyung signed a three-year, 2.8 billion won contract with the Doosan Bears.

This is the first time since the 2000s that LG has pursued a contract renewal with its manager. Additionally, Manager Yeom has become the third manager in LG's history to successfully renew his contract, following the late Lee Kwanghwan in 1995 and Chun Boseong in 1999.

Since taking the helm in 2022, Manager Yeom has led the team to 247 regular-season wins (winning percentage 0.581) over three seasons, successfully managing the squad. Notably, he guided LG to two combined championships (regular season and Korean Series) in 2023 and 2025, ending the team's long-standing slump. As a result, Manager Yeom became the first manager in the club's history to achieve two combined championships.

Manager Yeom stated, "I will continue to establish a roster structure that enables us to consistently compete for championships, in order to repay the trust of the club and our fans." LG has set its sights on achieving the first back-to-back combined championships in club history as its goal for next season.

According to a report released in September last year by the Hyundai Research Institute titled "1.1 Trillion Won in Consumer Spending Effects from Professional Baseball," professional baseball-related production inducement amounted to 1.1121 trillion won, value-added inducement was approximately 465.3 billion won, and employment inducement reached 9,569 people. The economic impact within the region was analyzed at 714.3 billion won, with spillover effects to other regions totaling 397.8 billion won.
