Nighttime search operations to locate the two missing individuals trapped in the Ulsan Thermal Power Plant boiler tower collapse have continued for a second consecutive night, but their whereabouts remain unknown.
On the morning of the 8th, fire authorities announced that throughout the night, they deployed about 40 rescue personnel in teams of five, rotating every 30 minutes. They also used drones, thermal imaging detectors, and endoscopic cameras to search the site, but have not yet located the missing individuals.
On the morning of the 8th, the third day since the boiler tower collapse accident at the Ulsan Thermal Power Plant operated by Korea East-West Power's Ulsan Power Headquarters, rescue and search operations continued behind Boiler Tower No. 4 at the power plant, near the already collapsed No. 5 tower. There were a total of seven people trapped in the accident. Excluding the two missing individuals, three have been confirmed dead, and two are presumed dead.
Fire authorities explained that the steel structures of the collapsed boiler tower are intricately entangled, and they are continuously discussing efficient search and rescue strategies with experts, including structural safety engineers.
On the third day since the accident, fire authorities are continuing to deploy personnel inside the structure to carry out search and rescue operations.
However, fire authorities stated that Boiler Towers No. 4 and No. 6, located on either side of the collapsed No. 5 tower, are also at risk of collapse, making rescue activities more difficult.
