"Initial Response Saves Lives"... Yangsan City Conducts Bioterrorism Preparedness Drill

"Initial Response Saves Lives"... Yangsan City Conducts Bioterrorism Preparedness Drill

Bioterrorism refers to terrorist acts that use bacteria, viruses, or toxins with the aim of causing casualties or social disruption. This drill was organized to strengthen the ability to respond quickly and systematically in the event of a bioterrorism incident, as well as to review the cooperation system among related organizations.

Approximately 40 first responders from organizations such as the police station, fire station, and Yangsan Pusan National University Hospital participated in the drill. The focus was on enhancing the capabilities of first responders, and the entire process was reviewed-from receiving a report of a suspected bioterrorism situation, to dispatching to the site, taking initial measures, managing and investigating those exposed, transporting patients, and post-incident reporting.

In addition, participants received theoretical training on bioterrorism preparedness and response, and practiced donning and doffing protective suits. Through this, they became familiar with biological hazards, safety guidelines, and on-site response procedures.

Kim Jeongmi, Director of the Public Health Center, stated, "Rapid and accurate initial response is key to minimizing the damage caused by bioterrorism. This drill has served as an opportunity to strengthen the collaborative system among related organizations and further enhance our bioterrorism response capabilities to ensure the safety of our citizens."
