Seoul Police Crack Down on Drunk Driving Hotspots
11 Drivers Caught Across the City

On November 8, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that it had conducted a crackdown on drunk driving for two hours from 9 p.m. the previous day in areas with frequent drunk driving accidents, including Gangnam Station and Heunginjimun in Seoul, and caught 11 drivers.

As a result of the crackdown, nine drivers had their licenses suspended, while two had their licenses revoked.


By police station, Gangnam Police Station recorded the highest number of cases, with one license revocation and four license suspensions. Seocho Police Station reported one license revocation and two suspensions, Hyehwa Police Station reported two suspensions, and Suseo Police Station reported one suspension.


At the Heunginjimun intersection, where the police conducted the drunk driving crackdown, a recent accident occurred in which a Japanese tourist was killed after being hit by a drunk driver.


The police stated that they will continue to conduct random crackdowns at locations with frequent drunk driving accidents.
