A woman in her 30s has been booked by police after causing an accident while driving under the influence, crashing into both a police patrol car and a cargo truck in succession.
The Gwacheon Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced on November 6 that they had booked Ms. A on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving).
Ms. A is suspected of driving a Santa Fe SUV while intoxicated at around 10 a.m. that day on a road in Jungang-dong, Gwacheon, crossing the center line and crashing into an oncoming patrol car and a 1-ton truck.
As a result of the accident, four people-including two police officers in the patrol car, the truck driver, and Ms. A-sustained minor injuries and were transported to the hospital for treatment.
At the scene, a breathalyzer test showed that Ms. A's blood alcohol concentration was at a level warranting license revocation.
A police official stated, "Since Ms. A is currently receiving treatment at the hospital, a detailed investigation into the circumstances of the drunk driving will be conducted at a later time."
