Review of Progress on 30th Anniversary City Status Projects
Emphasis on Support for College Entrance Exam and Winter Safety Measures
On November 6, Yangsan City in South Gyeongsang Province reviewed the progress of projects commemorating the 30th anniversary of its elevation to city status during a managers meeting presided over by the mayor. The city also urged that 2026 be designated as the inaugural year to prepare for Yangsan’s next 100 years, emphasizing the need to ensure the smooth implementation of key initiatives.
At the meeting, Mayor Na Dongyeon assessed that “over the past 30 years, Yangsan has achieved remarkable growth in every area, including population, budget, and the number of businesses.” He stressed, “We should make the upcoming year 2026 the starting point for Yangsan’s new century, and I hope that not only the 30th anniversary projects but also all key initiatives will be carried out without delay.”
Mayor Na also directed the administration to actively address traffic issues at local festival venues to enhance convenience for both citizens and tourists.
He highlighted the importance of transporting visitors by shuttle bus in major festival areas with severe traffic congestion, such as Hwangsan Park, and instructed officials to consider enacting an ordinance to clearly establish the legal basis for operating shuttle buses at festival sites.
In addition, with the 2026 College Scholastic Ability Test scheduled for November 13, he called for thorough cooperation with relevant agencies to ensure optimal conditions for test-takers, including public transportation arrangements and management of traffic and noise.
Regarding winter safety measures, Mayor Na stated, “With the onset of cold weather, we must rigorously implement winter safety management policies such as cold wave response, snow removal, and protection of vulnerable groups.” He also requested that preparations for areas closely related to citizens’ daily lives be thorough and leave nothing to chance.
