On November 6, Jeollanam-do held the 'Gurye-gun Policy Vision Tour' at The-K Jirisan Family Hotel in Gurye-gun, attended by Kim Youngrok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, Kim Soonho, Mayor of Gurye-gun, Jang Gilseon, Chairman of the Gurye County Council, Lee Hyunchang, Jeollanam-do Assemblyman, as well as around 120 young people and local residents.

Kim Soonho, Mayor of Gurye-gun, stated, "Jirisan Mountain and the Seomjingang River, which Gurye possesses, are unique ecological landscapes and natural resources that no other country has," and requested, "As one of the core projects utilizing these resources is the Jirisan cable car project, I ask for your interest and support."

In his greeting, Governor Kim Youngrok emphasized, "With the recent inauguration of the Lee Jaemyung administration, leading high-tech companies such as OpenAI, SK, and Samsung are flocking to Jeollanam-do, creating new opportunities for Gurye as well. Gurye, with its Jirisan Mountain, Seomjingang River, and a thousand years of cultural heritage, will become a place of healing and inspiration for talents from advanced industries."

On this day, the Jeonnam Research Institute presented a vision for the future regional development of Gurye, including a premium Jirisan tourism belt, based on the county's potential for growth, which stems from its ecological and scenic resources such as Jirisan and the Seomjingang River, as well as historical and cultural assets like Hwaeomsa Temple.

The ten core visions for Gurye's development are as follows: ▲A place where nature and people meet, with the Seomjingang River flowing again ▲Osan embracing Saseongam Hermitage, a place to learn how to rest ▲Jirisan Hot Spring Zone Grand Renovation Project ▲The essence of K-Temple travel, establishing Gurye as a hub for Buddhist culture ▲A premium Jirisan tourism belt blending nature and emotion ▲Introduction of a new residential platform combining work, travel, and settlement in Gurye-eup ▲Fostering mountain outdoor leisure sports ▲Becoming Korea's number one hub for regenerative organic agriculture ▲Establishing a hub for research, production, processing, and experiential learning of Jirisan wild herbs ▲Strengthening the transportation network to promote East-West harmony, among others.

In the subsequent policy issue discussion, Governor Kim Youngrok, directors of Jeollanam-do's departments, and Gurye residents engaged in a Q&A session.

Kim Youngui, Chairman of the Jirisan Cable Car Installation Promotion Committee, urged, "For the restoration of the Jirisan National Park environment and balanced national development, approval should be granted for one cable car installation each in Yeongnam and Honam."

In response, Governor Kim stated, "The Jirisan cable car, a long-standing local project, has been discussed under the supervision of the Ministry of Environment, but has faced difficulties due to excessive competition among local governments. We are actively proposing coordination and procedures at the central government level, and will continue to promote Gurye as the optimal site, working together with the county."

Regarding requests to improve incomplete sections of the facility modernization project underway since the 2020 flood, he agreed, "I recognize the need to supplement structures and rain shelters to create a pleasant and safe market environment and to revitalize it," and promised, "The province will provide budget support of up to 1 billion KRW."

In addition, residents submitted suggestions including: ▲Establishing a road between Ganjeon Jungdae in Gurye and Okgok in Gwangyang ▲Expanding and paving National Road No. 19 (Naengcheon IC-Hwagae) ▲Building a dedicated women's Ssireum wrestling stadium ▲Improving infrastructure for the Korea Pressed Flower Museum ▲Creating sports and cultural spaces at Seosicheon Sports Park, among others.
