Goheung County Prevents Illegal Development with "Proper Development Activity Understanding Education"

Since the 5th, Education for Residents at Each Town and Township Office

Goheung County in South Jeolla Province, led by County Governor Gong Youngmin, announced that since the 5th, it has been conducting "Proper Development Activity Understanding Education" for residents at each town and township office.

This education program was designed to prevent environmental damage caused by illegal activities stemming from unfamiliarity with development activity permit procedures. It also aims to protect residents' property rights by helping them proactively prevent illegal acts before obtaining various permits and approvals. The program is scheduled to run until the end of December.

The main topics of the education include the scope of activities requiring development permits, permit size, permit standards, permit procedures, post-management of illegal development activities, and examples of violations. In addition, the county is promoting the "Mandatory Advance Notification for Farmland Improvement" system, which has been implemented since this year, as well as the "Advance Reservation System for Complex Civil Complaint Consultations," which allows residents to resolve civil complaints in a single visit.

An official from the county’s General Civil Complaints Office stated, "This year, there have been as many as 570 civil complaints related to development activity permits. Obtaining a development activity permit is an essential procedure for all types of development, including farmland, forest land, and residential land. If you are planning a development activity, we recommend that you check the permit requirements in advance and follow the proper procedures, which will help reduce illegal development and have a positive effect on protecting residents' property."

Meanwhile, the county plans to use this education program as an opportunity to improve residents’ understanding of the development activity permit system, strengthen civil complaint consultation services, and lower the incidence of unauthorized and illegal development activities, thereby creating a more pleasant and transparent environment for regional development.
