Luxury Car Used for 'Retaliatory Parking' After Complaints About Construction Notice

In an apartment complex in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province, an intoxicated resident caused a disturbance by parking a luxury foreign car, a Bentley, in the middle of the entrance to the parking lot after expressing dissatisfaction with the security guard's instructions. Residents experienced inconvenience for over three hours, and according to reports, the police who responded to the scene eventually had the vehicle moved through the car owner's family.

According to the Gimpo Police Station, at around 8:30 p.m. on November 4, a report was filed to 112 stating that "a Bentley vehicle is blocking the entrance to the parking lot" at an apartment complex in Gochon-eup, Gimpo. The police who arrived at the scene confirmed that the vehicle was stopped in the middle of the entrance road, blocking access.

An investigation revealed that the car owner, a man in his 50s identified as A, became dissatisfied when the security guard instructed him to use the rear entrance due to construction work at the main gate, and parked his car in that spot. It was reported that A, who had been drinking at the time, was on his way home using a designated driver service.

This apartment complex, with approximately 1,900 households, had started maintenance work on the parking lot floor that day and had restricted access through the main gate.

A netizen, presumed to be a resident, shared the incident on an online community, stating, "Expressing his frustration at the inconvenience of having to enter only through the rear gate, he blocked the entrance to the apartment and went straight home. Even after the police arrived, he used abusive language and threatened, 'Just try moving my car.'"

The police contacted A's family and had them move the vehicle, which was relocated at around midnight the next day, approximately three hours and thirty minutes after the report was filed. During this time, residents experienced prolonged inconvenience, having to use the exit instead of the entrance to access the parking lot. A police official stated, "We are reviewing whether charges of obstruction of business can be applied."

Meanwhile, in a similar incident last April, a man in his 30s in an apartment in Incheon blocked the entrance for over ten hours after protesting when his unregistered vehicle was denied access by the entry barrier. He was later fined 3 million won.
