Gijang County (Governor Jeong Jongbok) announced on the 5th that it will participate in the 2025 Busan International Fisheries EXPO (BISFE 2025), which will be held at Exhibition Hall 1 of BEXCO in Haeundae from November 5 to 7, 2025.
This event, hosted by the Busan Metropolitan Government, has established itself as the premier stage for the fisheries industry. As the only fisheries-specialized expo in Korea, it will feature 1,200 booths with the participation of 480 companies from 30 countries.
Gijang County has participated in the Busan International Fisheries EXPO every year to widely promote its excellent local seafood products such as seaweed, kelp, and anchovies, and to help seafood processing companies develop new distribution channels. This year, local companies such as Gijang Fermentation Co., Ltd. and SG Fisheries will operate independent booths, and together with the Daebyeon Fishing Village Market, they will jointly promote the excellence of local seafood products.
Gijang Fermentation Co., Ltd. is a traditional liquor producer that developed seaweed and kelp Makgeolli with support from the Gijang County Fisheries Resources Research Center, and is a village enterprise that has grown through the cooperation of the Gijang Fermentation Research Association. Meanwhile, SG Fisheries is a company specializing in the production, distribution, and sale of seafood products using conger eel, seeking new opportunities for Gijang's fisheries industry.
In addition, the Daebyeon Fishing Village Market, established as part of Gijang County's seafood distribution facility construction project, will participate in this expo to introduce a variety of products including dried seafood, and will also promote its store located on Yeonhwa 1-gil in Gijang-eup.
At the Gijang County booth, under the theme "Gijang Dried Seafood Exploration: Hidden Gems," there will be an opportunity to exhibit and promote the representative products of small-scale seafood processing companies that could not participate in the expo due to manpower shortages. This initiative is expected to help expand the business networks of local seafood companies and strengthen the competitiveness of their seafood products.
Jeong Jongbok, Governor of Gijang County, stated, "We participate in the expo every year to widely promote the excellence of Gijang's seafood and to expand market opportunities for local seafood companies," adding, "We will actively support and introduce various seafood distribution and processing companies to revitalize the fisheries industry in Gijang."
