On November 5, the Gwangjin District Office in Seoul (headed by District Mayor Kim Kyungho) announced that it had received the Director’s Award from the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) for excellence in case management at the ‘2025 Private-Public Partnership Tuberculosis Management Project Evaluation Ceremony’ organized by the KDCA.

This project is a public-private partnership in which the government supports dedicated personnel at tuberculosis treatment medical institutions and public health centers to systematically manage patients from diagnosis to completion of treatment.

Gwangjin District provided tailored support by visiting the homes of patients classified as high-risk through tuberculosis vulnerability assessments, offering disease prevention education, medication management, and hygiene supplies, as well as accompanying patients to medical appointments. In addition, the district contributed to both patient recovery and the prevention of further infections by offering guidance on medical benefit support, assisting with applications for tuberculosis special case exemptions, and supporting medication assistance programs.

Kim Kyungho, Mayor of Gwangjin District, stated, “Tuberculosis is a disease that can be completely cured with consistent treatment, but if treatment is interrupted, there is an increased risk of transmission and the emergence of drug-resistant strains. We will do our utmost to ensure that patients continue their treatment to full recovery through meticulous case management at our public health centers.”
