The Seoul Central District Court is scheduled to hold a pre-trial detention hearing (warrant review) at around 3 p.m. on this day for Seo, a man in his 30s, who is accused of drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act and causing death or injury by dangerous driving under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes.

Seo, who arrived at the court at 1:16 p.m. with his hands bound by a rope, responded "I'm sorry" when asked if he had anything to say to the bereaved family, before entering the courthouse.

Seo is accused of driving while heavily intoxicated at around 10 p.m. on November 2 and striking a Japanese mother and daughter who were crossing a crosswalk near Dongdaemun Station in Seoul. The mother died as a result of the accident, and the daughter was injured.

The victims' family members are scheduled to arrive in Korea on this day to meet with Seo's attorney. Seo is reported to have expressed to the police his intention to pay for the transportation of the victim's body and funeral expenses.
