Sharing Busan Port's Sustainable Logistics Strategy and Overseas Project Status
Busan Port Authority (BPA), led by President Song Sanggeun, has begun sharing its smart and eco-friendly strategies with global ports.
BPA announced on November 5 that its executives and employees were invited as speakers to recent international events hosted by major ports, where they shared strategies for sustainable development, such as the digital transformation of Busan Port and the direction for building an eco-friendly port.
The BPA Southeast Asia Office participated in the "Borneo International Maritime Week 2025," held from October 28 to 30 in Bintulu, Sarawak, Malaysia, hosted by the Bintulu Port Authority.
This event brought together key port-related organizations from Southeast Asia to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in shipping and ports, as well as strategies for the sustainable development of the maritime industry. On November 4, BPA also participated in "Smart Ports: Piers of the Future 2025," a global port innovation forum hosted by the Port of Barcelona.
This event gathered major ports from around the world, including Los Angeles, Hamburg, Rotterdam, and Busan, to share case studies and cooperation strategies. Discussions covered a range of issues facing global ports, such as port digitalization and hyper-connectivity technologies, cybersecurity, sustainability, and decarbonization.
In a welcome speech at the opening ceremony, Gu Jarim, Global Business Director of BPA, introduced Busan Port's 2050 Net Zero target and the current status of its digital transformation, presenting a vision for developing into a sustainable and resilient smart port.
During the subsequent panel discussion session, the importance of cooperation between ports and data standardization was emphasized amid uncertainties in the global supply chain.
BPA President Song Sanggeun stated, "Through these events, we were able to further strengthen our cooperative relationships with major global ports," adding, "We will continue to build international cooperation for sustainable port operations and green growth."
