Yeongcheon City (Mayor Choi Kimoon) announced on November 5 that it held the graduation ceremony for the 66th class of the "Rural Life Experience School" at the Bohyeon Nature Training Center in Jayang-myeon on November 2.

The Rural Life Experience School program has been held two to three times each year since 2005 and serves as a practical guide for urban residents who wish to return to farming or settle in rural areas.

The program is highly regarded for its solid curriculum and strong human network, receiving enthusiastic responses each session. Each class is conducted over two weeks with a one-night, two-day schedule on weekends. This year, the 65th class was held on June 7-8 and June 14-15, and the 66th class took place on October 25-26 and November 1-2.

The curriculum covers topics such as ▲ understanding rural culture and country life ▲ farmland management and land use conversion ▲ country housing and landscaping ▲ food, health, and field trips to local farms ▲ future agricultural policy outlook and policies for returning to farming or rural life, focusing on the essential information needed for those preparing to move to rural areas.

Mr. Jeong (48), a participant from Changwon, said, "After joining a one-night, two-day return-to-farming camp in Yeongcheon earlier this year and being impressed, I decided to enroll in this additional program. The more I learn, the clearer my goals in agriculture become, so I feel it was a great decision to participate."

Choi Jaeyeol, Director of the Agricultural Technology Center, stated, "This program provides urban residents with preliminary knowledge and hands-on experience of rural life, which will help encourage population inflow to rural areas and motivate greater interest in agriculture. We also expect it to help promote Yeongcheon as an attractive city for those considering returning to farming or rural living."
