Multidisciplinary Support for Children Victims of Abuse
Suncheonhyang University Gumi Hospital (Director Kim Sungho), designated as the Gyeongbuk Regional Saessakjigimi Hospital, held the "2025 Gyeongbuk Regional Saessakjigimi Hospital Child Abuse Related Agencies Seminar" on November 3 to strengthen its capabilities in responding to child abuse.
This seminar was organized to enhance multidisciplinary support for abused children and to reinforce cooperation among institutions. Over 100 stakeholders attended, including representatives from the Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Government, Saessakjigimi Hospital, local governments, police, child protection agencies, and child protection facilities, demonstrating significant interest in the topic.

The event began with an opening address by Kim Sungho, Director of Suncheonhyang University Gumi Hospital, followed by congratulatory remarks from Lim Siyoung, Head of the Education and Youth Division at the Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Government.
During the keynote lecture session, Professor Seong Hyeongmo from the Department of Psychiatry explained the causes of childhood trauma and directions for treatment under the theme "Psychiatric Understanding of Childhood Trauma."
Jeong Daun, Secretary of the Child Protection Committee, then presented on "Medical Intervention and Support for Abused Children," focusing on the practical roles and intervention processes that medical institutions undertake within the child protection system, illustrated through case studies.
In the institutional case presentation session, the following topics were shared: "Field Response and Support Cases Centered on Local Governments" by Gumi City Hall; "Cases of Responding to Child Abuse Encountered in the Field" by the Gyeongbuk Western Child Protection Agency; "Initial Response to Child Abuse Cases and Investigation Cooperation" by the Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency; and a Q&A session. These presentations highlighted the practical roles performed by dedicated personnel within the child protection system.
Kim Seongsu, Chairperson of the Child Protection Committee, stated, "This seminar was a meaningful opportunity for each institution to understand one another's expertise in the process of responding to child abuse and to concretize ways to cooperate. We will continue to faithfully fulfill our central role in the local child protection network going forward."
