A man in his 50s who suddenly collapsed at home and fell into brain death saved four lives through organ donation before passing away.

The Korea Organ and Tissue Donation Agency announced on November 5 that Ikki Kim, age 54, donated his heart, lungs, and both kidneys to four recipients at Andong Hospital on August 19 before passing away.

On August 2, Kim collapsed while washing at home and was transported to the hospital with the help of his family, but ultimately never regained consciousness and was declared brain dead.

His family decided to proceed with the donation, hoping that Kim, who was known for his warmth, would be able to do good by saving others' lives even in his final moments.

Kim was born as the third of four sons and one daughter in Andong, North Gyeongsang Province. His family recalled that he was diligent and always the first to help those in need. He also enjoyed sports such as hiking and running, and would often grow crops near his home to share with his neighbors.

Kim's son, Hoyong Kim, said, "I'm sorry I couldn't spend more time with my father. I hope he's happy in heaven, and I wish to meet him again in the next life."
