This accomplishment, which follows last year's first-place ranking nationwide, is a testament to Samcheok City's consistent pursuit of sustainable environmental policies and its thorough environmental management capabilities, which have been recognized externally once again.

The Environmental Management Evaluation is conducted annually by the Ministry of Environment, targeting 245 institutions across the country, with the aim of strengthening the environmental management capabilities of emission-related businesses and boosting morale.

The main evaluation criteria focus on improvements in environmental management, such as guidance and inspections of businesses that emit environmental pollutants. In this evaluation, Samcheok City achieved the top rank in Gangwon Province and second place nationwide, and was also awarded a prize money.

Additionally, Kim Hyeongcheol, an official from the Environmental Division, was selected as a recipient of the Minister of Environment's commendation for being an outstanding public official in environmental management, receiving an individual award.

The Environmental Division plans to donate the prize money to support citizens in financial hardship, in order to give back to the local community for the institution's achievement.

Park Sangsoo, Mayor of Samcheok, stated, "This achievement is the result of working together with our citizens," and added, "We will continue to pursue responsible environmental administration to create a sustainable and eco-friendly Samcheok."
