On November 4, Jang Donghyuk, leader of the People Power Party, visited the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam (PK) region and pledged party-level support for the construction of the new Gadeokdo Airport and its timely opening.
At the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam Regional Livelihood Budget Policy Council held that day at the Gyeongnam Provincial Government Office in Changwon, Gyeongnam, Jang stated, "The Gadeokdo New Airport is not just an airport, but will become a core infrastructure for a global logistics hub," adding, "We will provide full support to ensure it opens on schedule."

He continued, "Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam are the heart of Korea's industry and the forward base for our export economy," and emphasized, "We will actively provide every possible support so that this region can leverage its unique characteristics and achieve even greater growth."
He also highlighted, "Key industries that support the Korean economy-such as shipbuilding, automotive, machinery, and petrochemicals-are concentrated here, and future industries such as finance, space, and nuclear power are also preparing to take off in this region. When Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam thrive, our economy will be revitalized and Korea’s balanced development can be realized."
He pledged to push for the enactment of the "Special Act on the Creation of the Busan Global Hub City," which the city of Busan has been promoting. Jang said, "We will make every effort to pass the 'Special Act on the Creation of the Busan Global Hub City,' which leverages Busan’s strengths in logistics, finance, and the maritime industry," adding, "We will also pursue the full relocation of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, along with infrastructure and related agencies, to open a new chapter for the regional economy and balanced national development."
He also presented plans for Ulsan, including AI-based industrial innovation, the transition to eco-friendly industries, and the enactment of a special law for small modular reactors. Jang added, "We will focus all our resources on budget and policy so that Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam can emerge as the key hubs of the southeastern region and become a new axis of economic and territorial growth."
Song Eonseok, the People Power Party’s floor leader, also stated, "Whenever the economies of Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam have thrived, the Korean economy has also made great strides," and added, "Resolving social overhead capital (SOC) issues, such as the construction of the new Gadeokdo Airport or the national highway between Geoje and Masan, which are vital for the region's industry and logistics infrastructure, is extremely important, and we will lend our full support to these efforts."
Attendees at the policy council included party leaders such as Jang and Song, as well as Gyeongnam Governor Park Wansu, Busan Mayor Park Hyungjoon, and Ulsan Mayor Kim Dukyum.
