Under the Theme "Various Families, Come Together (ON)"
Namwon City in North Jeolla Province will hold the '2025 Multicultural Family Harmony Festival' at Namwon Yechon Madang on November 8, bringing together multicultural families and local residents.
According to the city on November 4, this year's event will be held under the theme "Various Families, Come Together (ON)." The festival aims to create a space for multicultural communication and harmony, where participants can understand and respect each other's cultures.
The event will feature a variety of pre-ceremony performances, including a rap performance by a Nepali worker and the traditional Cambodian Apsara dance. These performances will deliver messages of diversity and harmony through the arts of different countries.
In particular, the Apsara dance, a representative traditional dance of Cambodia performed by celestial nymphs to wish for peace and prosperity, is expected to offer a special stage that combines elegant hand gestures and serene smiles.
In addition, a range of programs will be offered, including a joint childcare sharing center achievement presentation, a multicultural talent show, multicultural food tasting, traditional costume experience, craft workshops, and exhibitions. These programs will provide citizens with opportunities to directly see, taste, and enjoy various cultures.
Na Chando, Director of the Namwon City Family Center, said, "I hope this event will be a time to share warm hearts by understanding and respecting each other's cultures. We will continue to develop diverse programs so that multicultural families can grow together and share happiness within the local community."
There are 640 multicultural households in Namwon City, totaling 2,308 people, and the city supports a variety of customized programs. In particular, the hometown visit support project for marriage immigrants and the emotional growth support project, which provides psychological and emotional counseling for healthy child development, have received a great response.
Kim Miok, Head of the Women and Family Division, stated, "Namwon is becoming a city where various families live together. I hope this event will serve as an opportunity for multicultural families and citizens to understand and communicate with each other, and the city will continue to provide active support and attention."
