On November 3, Jeonnam Province announced that it had held the opening ceremony for the Nexon Public Children's Rehabilitation Medical Center in the Jeonnam region at Mokpo Central Hospital, marking the launch of Jeonnam's public rehabilitation medical services to support the healthy recovery and growth of children with disabilities.

The opening ceremony, hosted by Jeonnam Province and Mokpo City and organized by Mokpo Central Hospital, was attended by Jeong Gwangseon, Director of Health and Welfare at Jeonnam Province; Jo Seokhoon, Acting Mayor of Mokpo; Kim Woni, National Assembly member; Jo Seongo, Chairperson of Mokpo City Council; Kim Jungwook, Chairperson of the Nexon Foundation; members of the Jeonnam Provincial Council; Mokpo City Council members; representatives from the medical and social welfare sectors; and approximately 150 other participants.

Held under the theme "Jeonnam Moving Forward Together with Hope, Recovery, and Growth as the Best Children's Rehabilitation Center with the Best Facilities and Medical Staff," the event began with a celebratory performance by students from Sorim School. The ceremony proceeded with a report on the center's construction, commendations for contributors, commemorative speeches and congratulatory remarks, a vision declaration performance, and concluded with a commemorative photo session and ribbon-cutting ceremony.

In particular, an appreciation plaque was presented to the Nexon Foundation, which donated 5 billion won for the construction of the center, highlighting the significance of expanding public medical infrastructure through public-private cooperation.

The Nexon Public Children's Rehabilitation Medical Center in the Jeonnam region is a public children's rehabilitation medical institution that provides integrated support for early diagnosis and intensive rehabilitation treatment for children with disabilities, as well as parental education and care.

This center is a long-awaited project for the region and marks the first public children's rehabilitation medical center in Jeonnam.

A total project cost of 12.2 billion won was invested to construct a three-story building above ground with one basement floor, covering a total floor area of 1,800 square meters. The center is equipped with state-of-the-art rehabilitation facilities, including language, occupational, and physical therapy rooms, a sensory integration therapy room, and a day ward with 20 beds. The medical staff consists of 17 professionals, including one rehabilitation medicine specialist, two nurses, and 14 therapists.

After completion in August and a pilot operation period, the center began providing rehabilitation treatment services. To date, 36 children have received a total of 386 treatments, improving medical accessibility for children with disabilities and their families in the region and helping to alleviate psychological and financial burdens.

Kim Jungwook, Chairperson of the Nexon Foundation, stated, "I hope the opening of the Nexon Public Children's Rehabilitation Medical Center in the Jeonnam region will serve as a starting point for providing essential medical services to children with disabilities and their families in the area. We will continue to support various regional medical initiatives for the healthy future of young people."

Jeong Gwangik, Director of the Nexon Public Children's Rehabilitation Medical Center in the Jeonnam region, said, "This center is the result of the long-held hopes of local residents and the community. We will continue to create a therapeutic environment that supports the recovery and growth of each and every child."

Jeonnam Province plans to invest 2.8 billion won in Suncheon Medical Center to open a "Regional Dental Clinic for People with Disabilities" in the first half of 2026. The facility will be equipped to provide specialized dental care and surgeries tailored to people with disabilities.
