Practicing Regional Coexistence by Connecting Nature and Culture
Ulsan Eliya Hospital (Director Jung Younghwan) participated as the official sponsor of the "1st Ulsan Forest Love Music Festival with Ulsan Forest Volunteer Organizations," which was held by the Ulsan Forest Social Cooperative (Chairperson Seo Hyosuk) on November 1 at 2 p.m. around the former Hogae Station area in Ulsan Forest, and contributed to the successful completion of the event.
In September, Ulsan Eliya Hospital officially donated 10 million won, wishing for the successful hosting of the concert and the continued development of Ulsan Forest.
This music festival was organized for members of Ulsan Forest volunteer organizations and featured performances by local artists as well as a singing contest for volunteer group members. The event was attended by Chairperson Seo Hyosuk, Buk-gu District Mayor Park Cheondong, Buk-gu Council Chairman Kim Sangtae, National Assemblyman Yoon Jongho (Ulsan Buk-gu), Ulsan Eliya Hospital Director Jung Younghwan, and about 300 volunteers.
Seo Hyosuk, Chairperson of the Ulsan Forest Social Cooperative, stated in her welcoming remarks, "We organized this concert to offer a time of rest and unity to the volunteer group members who have actively participated in Ulsan Forest conservation activities," adding, "I hope this concert will be remembered as a warm encouragement and joyful memory for all volunteers."
The Ulsan Forest Social Cooperative is an organization voluntarily established by local residents for the sustainable development and revitalization of Ulsan Forest. After receiving official approval from the Korea Forest Service in May, it signed a business agreement with Buk-gu to promote joint projects for the revitalization of Buk-gu and Ulsan Forest.
Jung Younghwan, Director of Ulsan Eliya Hospital, delivered a congratulatory speech at the event, saying, "Having spent my life as an orthopedic surgeon, I believe that, in addition to medical treatment, the forest as a space and music as an art form are themselves excellent and healthy processes of healing. Ulsan Eliya Hospital will continue to provide unwavering support for the sustainable development of Ulsan Forest and the noble spirit of the volunteers."
Ulsan Forest is an urban forest created by Buk-gu, Ulsan, on the abandoned Donghae Nambu Line railway site, with a total length of 7 kilometers and a total area of 14.8 hectares. Including the Songjeong section completed at the end of last year, large-scale urban forests such as Ewajeong, Sincheon, and Hogae sections have been established over the past three years with a budget of 12 billion won, receiving enthusiastic support from local residents.
