"Revitalizing Traditional Markets and Supporting Small Businesses"
Jeon Seungil, Chairman of the Gwangju Seo-gu Council, announced on November 4 that he had recently received a plaque of appreciation from the Yangdong Traditional Market Revitalization Council in recognition of his exceptional interest and dedication to revitalizing local traditional markets and supporting small business owners.
Chairman Jeon Seungil has consistently demonstrated a sense of duty and a spirit of service by visiting sites in person, engaging in communication, and reflecting the voices of the community in policy through his legislative activities.
He has been highly praised for actively listening to the real opinions of traditional market merchants and small business owners and for making substantial efforts to provide practical support and institutional backing to address the challenges they face.
In particular, his proactive interest and unwavering support for the successful hosting of the 3rd Yangdong Tongmaek Festival, as well as his tangible contributions to revitalizing traditional markets and restoring the local economy, were cited as key reasons for this award.
Chairman Jeon Seungil stated, "I am truly honored to receive this plaque of appreciation. I consider it not just a personal award, but one made possible thanks to the market merchants and local residents who have worked together with me. Moving forward, the council will continue to provide more attentive care and practical support to help restore the vitality of traditional markets and small businesses."
Meanwhile, Chairman Jeon Seungil has been highly recognized by the local community for his action-oriented legislative activities that connect residents and the field, having received numerous awards and commendations from various organizations and institutions, including winning four categories at the Law Journal Local Legislative Awards and, last month, the 2025 Local Autonomy Legislative Award organized by the Korea Voters Central Association.
