"Kim Dongyeon Visits Gimpo on the Daldal Bus: 'Gyeongcheon Stream Will Be Reborn as a Triple-Benefit Sunshine River'"

Governor Kim Dongyeon of Gyeonggi Province expressed his anticipation that the Gyeongcheon Stream in Gimpo City will be transformed into a “Sunshine River.”

On November 4, Governor Kim posted on his social media, “As soon as I returned from my business trip to the United States, the Daldal Bus (which brings change wherever it goes) headed straight to Gimpo,” and introduced, “Starting with the long-awaited free access to Ilsan Bridge, we are investing 130 billion won of provincial funds to create a retention basin as part of the Gyeongcheon Stream maintenance project, which has threatened citizens’ safety during every heavy rainfall.”

He added, “In addition, solar panels will be installed on the 132,000-square-meter retention basin,” and continued, “Today (the 3rd), I pledged with the residents to push forward with the project just as we saw in the inspiring video after the completion.”

He went on to say, “Gyeongcheon Stream will be transformed into a ‘Sunshine River’ with triple benefits,” explaining, “It will produce renewable energy sufficient for 4,000 households of four people each, resident convenience facilities such as a park golf course will be established under the solar panels, and residents will participate in the energy cooperative operating the project and share in the profits from power generation.”

He also said, “In the evening after finishing my work, I had chicken and beer with Assemblymen Kim Jooyoung and Park Sanghyuk, as well as provincial and city council members, at Gimpo’s famous ‘La Venice,’ where we discussed various issues facing Gimpo City. It was the first chicken and beer event for the Daldal Bus, so the atmosphere was fantastic. Please look forward to the changes that will make Gimpo a more livable, premium city.”
