Multi-Purpose Tourism Facility Featuring Immersive Content, Robot Cafe, and Skywalk
Key Hub of the Chilgap Lake Tourism Belt
Cheongyang County in South Chungcheong Province is making final preparations for the opening of "Chilgaptower," which will transform the Chilgap Lake area into a stay-type tourist destination.
Chilgaptower, a tourism hub combining advanced content such as an immersive experience center, a robot-operated unmanned cafe, and a skywalk, will open its doors on the 14th.
The county announced on the 4th that the multi-purpose tourism facility "Chilgaptower," located in the Chilgap Lake area of Gwangdae-ri, Daechi-myeon, will be open to the public starting from 3 p.m. on the 14th.
Chilgaptower has a total floor area of 2,722 square meters and stands six stories above ground. It features an immersive media experience center themed around Cheongyang’s nature and culture, a robot-operated unmanned cafe, and spaces for tourism information and promotion.
In particular, the tower offers a variety of content for families, including an experience room that digitally recreates the Chilgap Lake legend and its seasonal landscapes, as well as a rooftop photo zone.
Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Chilgap Lake from the 102-meter-long skywalk and the 56-meter-high waterfront observatory connected to the tower, and can also cross the lake via a floating walkway.
The opening of Chilgaptower marks a key phase of the "Chilgap Lake Tourism Development Project," which has been underway since 2017, with a total investment of 46.5 billion won.
The county plans to complete a waterfront camping site and a nightscape featuring water and starlight next year, aiming to establish the entire Chilgap Lake area as an integrated tourism belt.
County Governor Kim Dongon stated, "As a complex tourism base that combines digital experiences and relaxation, we expect it to revitalize the local economy. We will do our best to establish Chilgap Lake as a premier tourist destination."
