The Korea Venture Capital Association (hereinafter referred to as the VC Association) and KAIST announced on November 4 that, ahead of the finals of the '2025 Korea Graduate Student Venture Investment Competition (UVICK)' to be held in January next year, they conducted a 'special training seminar and preliminary competition' for participants from October 25 to November 2 at the TIPS Hall S1 in TIPS Town, Gangnam, Seoul.
This seminar was a hands-on venture investment talent development program based on the guidelines of the US VCIC, providing graduate students interested in venture investment with the opportunity to experience the entire process of the venture capital industry.

Forty-five graduate students from eight universities-including Korea University, Kookmin University, Sogang University, Soongsil University, Ewha Womans University, Chungnam National University, Pohang University of Science and Technology, and KAIST-participated in the seminar. Over the four-day intensive curriculum, a variety of practical training sessions were conducted, including: ▲Understanding the VC industry ▲Investment process ▲Drafting and negotiating term sheets ▲Global venture investment case studies ▲Preparation and presentation of actual investment evaluation reports.
Notably, active venture capitalists participated directly as instructors and mentors, vividly conveying real-life decision-making methods and analysis processes used in actual investments. The participating teams learned the key elements of investment decision-making, and in the practical phase, each team prepared a company analysis and investment proposal, receiving one-on-one feedback from VC investment professionals.
On November 2, the final day of the seminar, a preliminary competition was held, featuring presentations of each team's investment evaluation report and a mock investment review committee. The top six teams earned the right to advance to the finals, which will be held on January 16 next year. The winning team in the finals will represent Korea at the 'VCIC Global Finals' to be held at the University of North Carolina in the United States in April next year.
The Korea Graduate Student Venture Investment Competition is being conducted as part of the 'Prospective Young Venture Investment Talent Development Program' within the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' '2025 Venture Capital Advancement Project.' Through this competition, the VC Association plans to strengthen practical investment training for domestic graduate students and expand the pool of professional talent in the venture capital industry.
