National Palace Museum Unveils New Media Wall Installations at Arrivals Hall
The National Palace Museum of Korea, in collaboration with the National Heritage Promotion Agency and Incheon International Airport Corporation, will unveil 'Changdeokgung Outer Wall Painting' and 'Digital National Treasure 530' at the Traditional Culture Media Wall in the arrivals hall of Terminal 1 at Incheon Airport on November 5.
Both works are videos that combine Joseon royal court paintings with contemporary media art. They are designed to allow arriving passengers to experience K-Heritage, where tradition and technology are harmoniously blended.
The Changdeokgung Outer Wall Painting consists of six murals, with two located in each of Gyeonghungak, Huijeongdang, and Daejojeon within the inner quarters of Changdeokgung Palace. On the Media Wall, the six paintings unfold as one, offering viewers the sensation of walking through the restricted-access interiors. Curtain and wallpaper patterns, as well as interior lighting, are rendered in three-dimensional graphics to realistically reproduce their textures and colors.
Digital National Treasure 530 is a collaborative work with Korean-Colombian artist Gala Porras-Kim. The artist's series, 'National Treasure 530,' is presented on the Media Wall. Through contrasts and effects of light, the images of national heritage are interpreted in a contemporary manner.
The National Palace Museum will also hold a hands-on event from November 19 to 22 in front of the promotional hall on the first basement level of Terminal 1's arrivals hall. Visitors who watch the introductory video via QR code will receive a souvenir.
