Muan County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Kim San) conducted a campaign to eradicate price gouging and stabilize prices during the 3rd Muan Mudflat Octopus Festival, held from November 1 to 2. The campaign involved around 20 participants, including public officials, members of the Muan Traditional Market Merchants Association, and price monitoring agents.
The campaign promoted key messages to visitors and merchants at the festival, including the eradication of price gouging, prevention of unfair business practices, implementation of price and origin labeling, and encouraging the use of good price-certified businesses. The county called for cooperation in stabilizing local prices and fostering a culture of friendly business transactions.
The county requested that merchants near the festival maintain reasonable prices and provide courteous service. To ensure a swift response to any complaints, a price stabilization task force was operated within the festival grounds, with the county making every effort to manage prices effectively.
Kim Yoondeok, head of the Local Economy Division of Muan County, stated, "We hope this campaign will help spread a culture of mutually beneficial business practices," and added, "We will continue our efforts to eradicate price gouging and establish a sound market order at the upcoming YD Festival on November 14."
