Establishing Gumi Young Square as the Core of Youth Policy

On November 7, the city of Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province, will hold the opening ceremony for "Gumi Young Square," a youth hub space established on the first and second floors of the commercial building at Gumi Station, and will officially begin its operations.

"Gumi Young Square" has been created as a multi-cultural youth space where young people can freely gather, interact, learn, and engage in start-up and cultural activities.

The first floor features the Youth Support Center, Wedding Theme Lounge, GumiIN Support Center, Popup Space, Tourist Information Center, Art Wall (exhibition space), and Community Stairs (rest area). The second floor houses a Shared Office. Together, these facilities serve as a platform that connects the daily lives and aspirations of young people.

The Youth Support Center assists local youth in settling down stably through comprehensive counseling and support programs related to employment, entrepreneurship, and housing. The GumiIN Support Center operates programs for newcomers and initiatives to attract a residential population, helping new Gumi citizens integrate smoothly into the community.

The Wedding Theme Lounge consists of an event hall (wedding hall), self-studio, and powder room, and offers not only small weddings but also educational, experiential, and networking programs related to marriage. In particular, it will run "One-Day Wedding Culture Classes" and a "Small Wedding Consultation Center" for young people, aiming to address practical concerns about wedding preparations together.

The Shared Office is an exclusive space accessible through youth VIP card app verification, divided into a lobby (for relaxation and networking) and a study zone (for study and self-development). It also includes eight start-up spaces and a shared meeting room, providing customized office space for early-stage entrepreneurs selected through a screening process.

Additionally, the "Gumi Tourist Information Center" will offer information linked to local tourism resources and sell goods, while the "Popup Space" will operate an experiential ramen-themed content program until the end of this year. Various themed popup exhibitions will be continuously presented in the future, further strengthening the connection between local businesses and culture.

Going forward, the city plans to make Gumi Young Square the core hub for youth policy, promoting a variety of programs such as community revitalization, local settlement support, and cultural events. Through these efforts, Gumi aims to realize its vision of becoming a city that young people "seek out and choose to stay in."

Gumi Mayor Kim Jangho stated, "A city can only be sustainable if its young people are happy," and added, "We will actively support Gumi Young Square so that it can become a central space that encourages the dreams and potential of youth."
