This agreement was promoted to spread awareness messages about rainwater inlets and, as part of corporate social responsibility (CSR), to install and support environmental improvement infrastructure by Seongdong District and KT&G.

Yeonmujang-gil in Seongsu-dong has become a popular attraction for young people as well as domestic and international visitors. However, with the recent increase in foot traffic, there have been more cases of trash and other debris entering the rainwater inlets, causing inconvenience for residents.

Accordingly, the two organizations have decided to install 'rainwater inlet grating filters' in the Yeonmujang-gil area to effectively block the inflow of trash. The 'rainwater inlet grating filter' is a product designed to be installed as a cover over road rainwater inlets, preventing household waste from entering under normal conditions and ensuring smooth drainage during the rainy season.

As the first phase of this collaborative project, 100 rainwater inlet grating filters will be installed and operated on a 250-meter section of Yeonmujang-gil as a pilot program. The district plans to analyze the results of the pilot project and discuss with KT&G the possibility of expanding the installation area next year. In addition, regular cleaning and inspection of the rainwater inlets will be carried out to minimize flood damage.

Jung Wono, Mayor of Seongdong District, said, "With this agreement, we expect Yeonmujang-gil in Seongsu-dong, a popular destination for many visitors, to become even more pleasant," adding, "Through close cooperation with KT&G, we will make every effort to manage the street environment so that Seongsu-dong becomes a place people want to visit again."
