Traditional Lights Illuminate the Night Sea... Spectacular "Falling Flower Firework Display" at Pohang Songdo Beach On the 1st, Pohang City held the "Songdo Firework Display" at Songdo Beach.

The "Songdo Firework Display," hosted by Pohang City and organized by the Pohang Cultural Foundation, concluded successfully with enthusiastic responses from both citizens and tourists.

This event brought together key figures such as Pohang Mayor Lee Kangdeok, National Assemblyman Lee Sanghui, city and provincial council members, as well as numerous citizens and visitors, creating a new nighttime festival that blended tradition and modernity.

Festivities began at 5 p.m. with the "APEC Summit Commemorative Marine Gourmet Festival," followed by a variety of cultural performances. Later, at the Songdo Goddess Square, announcer Jang Kijhin hosted the Lighting Ceremony for the Night of Falling Flowers.

When the dignitaries lit the falling flower ropes with torches, sparks spread along the ropes and scattered into the night sky, creating a breathtaking scene. Following this, artist Lee Hwasun's Songdo calligraphy performance showcased the beauty of the Korean alphabet, adding depth to the evening's festivities.

This firework display adopted the traditional firework methods of Dumun Village in Muju, North Jeolla Province, using embers made from a mixture of charcoal powder, salt, and mugwort scent to reinterpret its unique traditional beauty in a modern way.

Notably, this was the first time in Korea that a falling flower performance was attempted on a beach, offering spectators a new visual experience and emotional impact, and proving the potential of Pohang's distinctive nighttime tourism content.

As the falling flowers scattered, the creative Korean music group "SAI" performed a fusion of traditional and contemporary music, achieving a harmonious blend of old and new. The night concluded with a mini firework show that brightly lit up the Songdo night sky, marking a spectacular finale to the festival.

Mayor Lee Kangdeok said, "Through this Songdo Firework Display, we are able to celebrate the successful hosting of the APEC Summit and widely promote Songdo Beach as a nighttime attraction. We will continue to do our best to enhance nighttime tourism and showcase the charm of Pohang's nights."
