With the onset of winter approaching, a 'fire prevention plan' will be implemented over the next four months.
According to the Sejong City Fire Headquarters, this plan was established with a focus on strengthening a prevention-centered response system, as the risk of fires in residential and industrial facilities increases with greater use of heating equipment during the winter season.
The Fire Headquarters will promote the fire prevention plan based on five key strategies: ▲ prevention of large-scale and social incident fires ▲ strengthening the fire safety network ▲ spreading a citizen-participatory safety culture ▲ enhancing cooperation with related organizations ▲ and implementing special measures that reflect the unique characteristics of Sejong City.
Accordingly, the authorities plan to conduct intensive inspections of high-risk locations such as construction sites and hazardous materials facilities, and crack down on illegal activities to eliminate vulnerabilities in advance.
In particular, photoluminescent evacuation guidance patches will be installed in facilities for the elderly and people with disabilities, and safety inspections of wood-fired boilers will be carried out in rural areas. During this month, which is designated as Fire Prevention Emphasis Month, citizen-participatory campaigns and mobile fire safety experience classes will be operated, along with evacuation training for vulnerable groups.
Park Taewon, Chief of the Fire Headquarters, urged, "To prevent winter fires, please avoid using multi-outlet power strips and make sure to install fire extinguishers and detectors, following the basic fire prevention rules."
