A fire broke out at a waste disposal factory in Deokheung-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju, and the fire department is working to extinguish it.
According to Seo-gu, Gwangju and the Western Fire Station on October 31, the fire started at around 4:33 p.m. at a waste warehouse in Deokheung-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju. When the fire broke out, everyone inside the warehouse evacuated, and no casualties were reported.
The fire department is facing difficulties in extinguishing the blaze because the warehouse contains waste materials such as aluminum, which are difficult to put out. As black smoke spread throughout the area near the fire site, Seo-gu sent safety text messages urging residents to refrain from going outside.
The fire department plans to investigate the exact cause of the fire once the flames are completely extinguished.
