Final Report Meeting Held by the Gumi City Youth Employment Policy Research Group
On October 31, the Gumi City Youth Employment Policy Research Group, a legislative research body of the Gumi City Council in North Gyeongsang Province (led by Assemblywoman Jeong Jiweon), held a final report meeting for the "Study on Expanding Youth Employment through Local Resources" project in the conference room on the 3rd floor of the Gumi City Council. At the meeting, the group proposed the establishment of a "Youth Integrated Platform" as a core strategy to address youth employment issues in Gumi.
The final report meeting was attended by more than 30 participants, including Jeong Jiweon, the head of the group, and fellow research group members Kim Nakgwan, Yang Jino, Kim Chunnam, Jang Segu, Shin Yongha, So Jinhyuk, and Kim Wonseop, as well as relevant public officials and representatives from the research agency. The group shared the final results and achievements of the research, which had been conducted over the past four months.

During the meeting, the "Youth Integrated Platform" was presented as a strategy for expanding youth employment, based on an analysis of domestic and international benchmarking cases tailored to the three models of the study: entrepreneurship, employment, and settlement.
According to a survey, young people in Gumi are willing to settle in the city if quality jobs are available. Therefore, if the Youth Integrated Platform is properly implemented, it is expected to provide opportunities for young people to remain in the region and seek employment.
The research group members emphasized the importance of benchmarking successful cases, such as IT startups like Ruitten Technologies and rural resource utilization exemplified by the transformation of an old German brewery into a campus-style co-working space. They highlighted that creating a virtuous cycle of entrepreneurship, employment, and settlement within a single ecosystem is essential.
Jeong Jiweon, the head of the group, evaluated the "Gumi-Style Youth Platform" model proposed by the research agency, noting that it presented a Startup Lab (a space supporting entrepreneurship), a Career Lab (a space supporting employment), and a Life Lab (a space supporting settlement), each tailored to its respective type. She announced plans to work with fellow council members to identify the optimal location for operating the platform and to actively propose it to the implementing agencies.
With this final report meeting, the Gumi City Youth Employment Policy Research Group will conclude its research activities for 2025. The group plans to focus all efforts on ensuring that the proposed strategies and outcomes are reflected in future youth employment policies.
